Anyone know what this valve might be for. It is located just above to the left of the stuffing box as viewed from engine aft. It looks like a standard household cut-off valve found under the sink. 1981 Hunter 27.

I highly doubt it's factory. Can you see what's on the other side of the bulkhead? Try to see what it connects to.

Yes N4, Please check it soon. It could sink your boat if it fails.

Found It! it is the muffler drain hose. I assume for winter draining only. Not really necessary here in the Florida Panhandle.

Eliminate that. If it failed, or its hose failed, it would flood the boat. If you run antifreeze through the engine and exhaust properly, it's protected from freezing. The Vetus/Den Ouden mufflers include the nipple for the fitting, molded into the plastic, but do not cut it off, leaving that for owners' discretion. Here in NJ don't know anyone who actually drains one-- we never cut open that fitting at Cherubini.

This didn't come with the boat. Get rid of it soon! A failed gate valve almost sunk my boat and this looks like it's already deteriorating. Seriously, don't let this slide.
