amf puffer home
Hello - I just bought a 12' AMF Puffer - and have never sailed before. I'm a beginner here - so any info that might help me get started would be great. I bought my boat from my uncle and am a little nervous about taking her out. --- I've watched videos on YouTube -- but I've a feeling that getting it all figured out will be a little more involved than I planned. Help!!

The puffer is easy to get used to and pretty forgiving. If it does go over it is really easy to right.

Not being rude, but a book like"Sailing for Dummies", or any other beginner series would be a good start.

If this is the boat: http://sailboatdata.com/viewrecord.asp?class_id=4975
it looks like a fun, slightly tippy and wet ride.
See if you can get someone who knows how to sail to come with you. You can learn on your own (reading some books as previous post recommends) just by doing but it could end up being frustrating if you make a lot of mistakes (and we all make mistakes from time to time). On the other hand the mistakes we make are sometimes the way we learn.
Enjoy it. Start in light winds and work up to stronger stuff.
