Guy's: Thanks for the replies re: my previous post. My dilema is still this: Some of you had your sails recut, some did not, and do not report any problems with headroom when the bimini is up. To those who did not have the sail shortened; How in the devil can you sit up under the bimini and not have the boom whack the top, when it will take out your head without the bimini in place? I know this has been discussed ad nauseum in the archives, but I guess I am too dumb to understand!

Flattening Reef

Dan you can have a Flattening reef installed to get the boom lifted up out of the way for when the Bimini up and let the flattening reef out when sailing with the bimini down. The flattening reef will be a crinkle that is about 15 to 18 inches up from the end of the boom. Let me know if you have any questuions on this. By the Way I live in Findlay just North of Indian Lake, I am putting togather a trip to UK Sailmakers for a Seminar in Detriot. E-mail me off the site at cliffr@Bright.net

Boom Below Horizontal

Dan, I'm 6' 2" The boom on my 85 H23 was low enough that I had to duck when tacking even without the Bimini. I like Cliff's 15" reef idea. Wish I had thought of that. Regards, Jerry
