Dolphin at Port Arthur Marina 09/28/2008
I will be posting photos (not just of our boat) taken at the marina in my website.
http://moonlightflower.org so be watcihing for that. We went to the marina on Saturday night before we came home and then after church on Sunday. Some of the night pictures didn't turn out so well but when I made them a negative they came out like a ghost picture. So I will use those as ghost pictures. Just give me a little time.
It was learned that one boat did cross the canal and landed on some rocks. I didn't get a picture of that but hopefully I can. It is rumored that some people have not found their boats yet and it is possible that those boats may have ended up in the canal.
Of the boats that got moved because they could not be put back in the water, the owners have only a few days now to remove them from the marina because what boats are left will be bulldozed. Of those that were put back in the water, there was a fee for that. Our insurance agent called only minutes after we left the marina last night. So he is forewarned again.
The major damages to Dolphin can not be seen from the road. What you see from the road is the port side. The major damages are on the starboard side and on the inside. In the photo of Dolphin with my van, of course you are looking at the port side. A friend had asked why we couldn't haul Dolphin with my van. I laughed. She said oh it would take an 18 wheeler. Yep...
The marina is a sad sight folks. It really breaks my heart to see such a mess. Ike was no General and he was no Admiral either.
