help from mac26 owners

looking to buy a mac26x need info from owners pros and cons of this boat,I sail in a fresh water lake that links to lake huron in ontairo. This lake is somewhat shallow and has some great sand bars,my mac25 is great but i would like a little more head room, will this boat sail as good as my mac25,I spend a lot of time on the water in the summer months

No, the Mac 26x is a hybrid that emphasizes performance under power and marginalizes the sailing ability.

........they are by Mac X and M owners. Most will admit that they don't sail as good as a 25 or the 26 S or D, but still most of them love them for "their" needs. A number of them have downsized from 30-40 foot sailboats and are not regretting it.

We looked at them and decided against them for "our" needs, but I can see where they are vary popular with a lot of folks. You do have to admit that the big motor and fast speed they can run can have its benefits at time. A number have been to the Bahamas and the run across and back can be done in short order, which can be a safety feature.

No.... it won't sail as good as your mac25.
