Hey Guys need your help. My 90 Hunter Vision's 3GM30F has a problem. After running for awhile at 2800 RPM's my engine starts sputtering. The RPM's drop off and I get a big blast of black smoke. I can then manage only to go at about 2300 RPM's. If I try to go above 2300 she will sputter and put out a blast of black smoke again. I changed the two fuel filters, the Racor 110 and the Yanmar fuel filter on the engine and it did not correct the problem. FYI, the racor was dirty but the yanmar was clean. I have heard, change the fuel filters, change the gas, clean the fuel injectors, change the impeller and the thermostat. What do you think??? Thanks for your help! Daddy's Dream

Classic Mixing Elbow
Sound like the classic mixing elbow problem. Replace it. It's not woth the time or effort to try to clean it. They problem will happen again.

Don't waste your time and energy replacing just the mixing elbow. Our 2GM20/f has three parts: one that bolts onto the engine, the elbow threaded onto that, and then the flange pipe that attaches to the flexible exhaust hose. We decided long ago to not wrestle with the parts, but take the whole apparatus off and replace: much easier, cost is worth it and probably needs it anyway. So you pay $70 for one piece, why not 150 for all?
