I was on a catalina 42 and it had a aftermarket helmsmans seat that was siting on the deak but attached to the aft rails to be immobile. I have a Hunter 33[2005] and would love to get one, as i have a bad tendon in my foot and it gets really sore if I'm on it all day.
Any one have any sites that I can link to

Would This Work?

Not sure if this would work for you, but I had a raised helmsman cushion made for my 40.5. Not shown in this photo is the modification we made last year to add a hump on top of the cushion so that my butt would have some traction when heeling. Works well, particularly to the height-unchallenged, unlike me.

I saw a deluxe helm seat that was in a curved cradle with rollers to allow the seat to remain level while heeling. Quite elaborate

One came with my 310 when I got it in July. Great for the long trips or when we are hanging out in the cockpit at the dock or at anchor. Very comfortable and it gives me a better view forward when the dodger is up as opposed to when i stand. I think it was about $400 new but since I didn't buy it I can only go by what I was told by the PO.

Got it

Ok I added a nice seat for my 2007 Hunter 36 that lets me site while sailing and gives me a great view too.
I need to look into my photo's for how I did it so give me some time but should have them today,i use it all the time so my legs and back don't hurt any more after a long day or even an over night trip.

Helm Seat

Here is what it looks like and I also have added an extension shaft under the seat that raised the seat so I can look over my chartplotter and a great view and I am looking for my other photo's of the install the braket in between the flipp down seat.

Photo's

I had the photo's of how I took the flipp down helm seat apart and bolted the plate in between and drilling the holes so the shaft mounted to the seat slides into the helm seat and i remove the seat to flipp the seat down to allow exit from the walk through.
I 'll be going to the boat getting her cleaned up from this weekend cruise and getting her ready for the big Memorial Day weekend out at Pelican Bay here in Punta Gorda and will take some pictures but got all the parts from Wal-Mart but the first bracket rusted and returned it for a Alumium plate and used stainless bolts.

Here's the DIY model for my Hunter 44 DS. Had to be high enough to see over the cabin trunk.

I've been trying to decide on this since I got a 320 last summer, I'm only 5'9" and I have to stand on the seat to see over the dodger.
Rick in RI, did you reinforce the starboard under the seat or is the seat itself stiff enough ? I really like your version and may copy it.

Ted: the starboard is quite rigid and the seat also has a rigid bottom so together it is pretty rugged. The seat bottom is screwed into the starboard. The legs are held into fittings under the starboard with set screws and the whole thing breaks down in a few seconds and stows in the cockpit locker.

I have a high and low seat. The high seat you see wf my grandson on with his feet on the actual helm seat, is actually thr rear cabin hatchcover. You can see the 2 tiers better in the other pic. Red

I like it Rick, I need something removable like that for dinghy access, can't remember the last time I used the ladder.
