Hunter 33 Sea Harbour Marina, Oriental, NC
Now that our kids are older we decided to get back into the boat business and just closed on a 2 year old H33. We are very excited and it's nice to see some old familar names on this list. My question is about the supports for the helm seat. The screws are pulling out and will not tighten. Looks to me like the best solution is to through bolt them with some kind of backing plate. I can't get to the back side from the lockers and haven't crawled up from underneath. Has anybody run into this problem? Thanks, Mike Oatsvall Four Winds Oriental, NC

check Hunter Marine site

I was looking at a 33 a few months ago and think I remember seeing some sort of helm seat hinge support recall on Hunter's site, you may take a look- maybe it pertains to your situation. Good Luck- I had a 2000 340 that got hit by lightning in May and had it hauled to Sailcraft in Oriental. Reaaly liked my visits to Oriental even though my 340 was totalled, ended up in a 2003 356 just about a month ago. We sail on Kerr Lake.

Fixed Mine...

Had then same problem, you can access the back of the supports through the aft cabin. I used some small bolts and back them with a large fender washer. Seems to be holding up fine. It is a two man job, and you need long arms. The Hunter maintenance item has to do with the application of a stainless steel plate installed on the flange of the helm seat a different issue.
