Hello everyone. I just joined this Vega group.
I may purchase a '73 Albin Vega. The owner has accepted my offer, but I really don't own the boat yet. Trying to set up a survey for next week.

Roy:
Welcome, and good luck with the survey/purchase. I just went through
the same thing on my Vega a few months ago. So far I haven't been
dissappointed.
.... And this is a great group!

Good luck. You will be happy to have the survey for insurance (get an extra
copy if insuring). Hope all works out for you!

Thanks Procrastinator,

I am a bit excited. I have been looking at pics of Vegas on the internet. I just got off the phone with the surveyor; I just have to line up a time with the current owner.

Anything I should especially look for on this boat? It's a 1973.

On my boat we have threaded 4mm polyester plaited line through the netting top and bottom. On the top guard wire we have wound the line around the guard wire as we have threaded the netting. The bottom line we have secured to the base of the stansions. The line is kept taut by making a loop at the end and pulling it tight using multiple turns of line in the same way as the guard wires are secured to pullpit and pushpit.

Hope this helps.

If anyone wants a set of nearly new netting which fit to the guard wires for a Vega in the UK I have two lengths which I have removed from my boat.
