I'm new, to sailing and here...hello...i just purchased a 16' Evans sailboat...it's cute...looks like something Popeye would have...anyway, i have scoured the internet and it would seem i have a boat that could be obsolete...the boat is absolutely beautiful, the only thing that could use a little attention is the centerboard, it needs some assistance ie repair...any thoughts or tips on how one might remove this thing...thanks in advance.

My second boat was a 16' and it was a wonderful size for sailing and taking friends out. I'm sure you'll love it. I have no personal knowledge of this boat, but one thing that would help is a photo post. Same as to the centerboard. Let us know specifically what's up with it and maybe we can advise.
You can search this site for "Centerboard removal" and find several articles about it for other boats. These will give you some helpful hints.

Congratulations of the acquistion of you "new" yacht. Sailboats, generally, are never obsolete. Evidenced by some of the nearly 50 year old Cals, Islanders, Catalinas and Ventures that are still around. We launched Freedom 33 years ago and she is still in good shape. Fiberglass is the best thing that ever happened to boats. The problem for you and others is finding replacement parts and repair advice and instructions. Hopefully someone will be able to help.
