Hello from s/v Tarka

Hello Vega Group!I'd like to introduce ourselves officially. My partner Juliet and I bought Vega 1639 last March in St. Martin. We sailed "Tarka," formerly "Tarka the Otter" from St. Martin, through the Caribbean, and put her up in Grenada for the hurricane season. We will be returning to her in two weeks and plan to spend more time throughout the Caribbean and beyond. We've been followers of the Vega mailing list for several years now and the information and support we saw through the mailing list helped us choose the Vega as the boat we wanted to buy. We are working on a website to document our experiences with Tarka. sailingtarka.comWe've been inspired by other accounts of Vegas sailing all over the place including (but not limited to): Lealea, Rebellion, Wee Happy, and Velocir. Our hope is that our site and blogging will inspire others to follow their dreams as well. So we invite everyone to give us feedback as to what sort of content should be included to help us achieve this goal. We have been spectators for nearly 5 years, and it is finally time for us to start giving back. Welcome, and wishing you many more happy voyages! Our friends, Jon and Sue Holtzworth, whom we met while living aboard and cruising our Vega, Double Fantasy, are currently in Grenada. They live aboard their yacht Toi et Moi. They have a blog entitled Sailing South with Toi et Moi.

Paul and I are hoping to be cruising on Double Fantasy once again in the not too distant future!

Hello from Liza (AV634)Welcome aboard. My name is Sheila King. I am a retired Canadian living in Barbados and bought Liza in February 2013 here. I completely refitted her and she is updated and senior friendly. I sailed around the Grenadines in early October, off season, hot and not much wind. I left her in St Lucia for the Mango Bowl end of November and sailed back yesterday to Barbados. She's a great little ship and I'm sure you will enjoy the grenadines in season with better winds. If you do the crossing and come to Barbados, come to Carlyle Bay and I'll buy you a rum punch at the Cruising Club. It would be great to see another Vega.
