Great to hear back from you guys! I am sorry to be so long getting back to you but right after posting, we lost our internet when we flew with some friends to Freeport, Bahamas for a week of "vacation" (How do you take a vacation from living on a sailboat? It was a weird feeling getting back "home" and unloading suitcases to a boat. haha)
After the trip to Freeport it was back in brunswick on the boat. There I discovered that my solar panels were no longer charging my batteries. We spent a couple of days tracking down the problem and finding the parts to repair it. I had the help of one of the full time liveaboard cruiser buddies holed up in brunswick for hurricane season. That is one of the advantages of being where we are.There are a lot of folks here and it is a lot of fun picking their brains and checking out their boats. (See pic of the marina from my dock below).
So far we have only sailed four times. We have had projects that both kept us busy and kept the boat out of comission. This next trip down i expect to be able to do a lot more sailing, and are planning our first overnight trip to cumberland island. Well, the sail will not be overnight, but we will overnight on the hook.
Joe, I know that you are going to do fine. I am looking foreward to seeing your post about the fish you catch, the stews you make, and the overnighters on the SV Trinka.
Recess, re your quest ion, Our current plans are to sail the bahamas this winter, then maybe continue to cruise (doubtful due dollars) or return to brunswick, work for a while to replenish the kitty. I sure want to get back to my home grounds but also want to "live the dream" of cruising to the bahamas, and maybe even into the caribeanislands. But someday, i want to be back on the emerald coast. In fact, i am currently re reading a book I love, written by bob white, called "Flotsam and Jetsom, I life spent messing about in boats". Bob lived and sailed and explored the panhandle his whole life. He is a very good story teller.
This week I am in Calhoun, GA working for several days. Then At the end of this month I get to go back to Brunswick for almost three weeks. Then back up here for two. my last month to work in Calhoun is October. Then I am unemployed for as long as the money holds out.
