hello engine replacement , install of M16 kubota universal advice needed,

Can combi shaft and prop pinned n fixed position be used with modified flange put in to accomodate hurst tranny and M16 kubota? Or take off hurst and use directly with combi prop set up? Is the shaft in there a true 1" comparable to a standard 1' shaft? Or... Can a 1" new shaft be installed to accomodate the bearing set up in the hull so to avoid a new cutlass bearing install? TIm at ecoearthyacht@... ANy info asap will help . Will this engine fit in the vega, # 2144, Mk 2 model, 1974 built?

Please throw the Combi away... Stick to the Hurth Gearbox and Im sure the engine will fit but you need to measure. Shaft is 25mm as standard on the Vega. Your Vega is a Series II so shouldnt have any problems that are unsurmountable.

Ok, Steve says no use of the combi prop system. So what is the dimension of a new shaft needed Is it 25 MM or 1 " as I thought I was told to get? What about the cutlass bearing for the m16 going in? If it ewere a 25 MM shaft as most ideal, where would I find a used one ? I have a 3/4 i shaft .ALso , from that bombe florated and sailboat sail sewing ,WOuld you advise on sail modifications? TIm
