Here's something from this cricket:

I read it as don't do any non-essentail trips, stay close to home, go daysailing, no island wants you (for good reason these days), safety first - consider your neighbors, too.

The "freedum" fanatics are crazy.
Our son is a rescue specialist with CCG in the Great Lakes area. I know I’m concerned with his well being this season. The job comes with a known level of risk that he signed up for but this is a lot different. They are lots busy enough dealing with truly essential vessel traffic, commercial fishing - supply chain freighter traffic etc. Recreational boaters really don’t have to be out there right now.

Sorry - stepping off soap box now.

Latest from the guvna, he will open recreational boating May 5th. We'll see. Hope so. Maybe the Canadian border around that time, too?

Terry, I believe the 2 countries agreed on another 30 days closure on Apr 19. So we are looking at about 2 weeks after your Governor reopens boating in WA. :(

Thanks, Len. Sure hope so. Looking forward to spending some sail time north of the border.

Met John Alden a few years ago while out running in our neighborhood near his home. He's spent the last 15 years operating his small local restaurant doing what he referred to as "chop, cook, clean", five days a week, Tue-Sat. He sold John's Grill in old town Mukilteo right before Covid-19; very fortunate for him, not so for the new owner.

Anyway, he keeps his new to him older boat in the Everett Marina and at the moment prepping her for some summer cruising. We commiserate over the various spots around San Juan Islands that he and his wife Lisa enjoy. I'm hoping to have him join in our merry forum here where he can share some of his experiences with us. and us with him. I expect to hear from him shortly via e-mail. I'll put in a plug when I do.

As mentioned in the circumnavigation post, we're thinking about circumnavigating Whidbey Island. Not really planning on interacting anywhere. Just going to load up eggnog of everything and go for a few days. That will be enough for now.
