Sorry to bother you guys with this question but I am trying to find the height of a 1987 Hunter 31 from the bottom of the shoal draft keel to the tallest part of the superstructure. I need to know if the trailer I have will transport this boat home and stay under the 13'-6" height limit. My deck height on the trailer is 26" and the cradle will add another 3" for a total of 29". So if the boat is 11'-1" or under I am OK. The yard manager at the marina where the boat is stored says that if I put that boat on a trailer that has a 26" deck height I am going to be a overall height of 15'. With the shoal draft keel I thought I would be safe. Rgards, Jeff......

Cant say for sure but,

if it was too tall, you could remove the stanchions, bow pulpit and stern pulpit to get under. Are you sure you need to be under the 13-6"?? Map your route to your house and see the clearance of all overpasses. Sometimes you can take an alternate route to make it work.

Thanks for the response.

The State of Maine requires loads to be 13'-6" or under. I do appreciate you response. If anybody does know the actual measurement it would be appreciated. Regards, Jeff.........

over height permit

I worked in the trucking industry for a long time. You may be able to get an "Over dementional load permit" if the height of the h31 on the trailer exceeds 13' 6". This may be the same permit you need for the over width permit for the h31 beam. These permits usually require limited hours of operation and restricted routes. The trucking company will most likely increase the price of transport but it can be done. Check with the company you are using for the cost of the permit and transportation cost.
