Heavier Mast

I am looking to buy a Macgregor 26D that has a heavier mast than an original and is a little taller at 34 feet. It seems that it has been on the boat for many years. Could it be a problem in future years? I have no idea how it wejght it on the boat.

It might heel more. More sail area and weight higher up.

How much heavier? More weight aloft will raise the CG and make the boat less stable.

I know of no way to weight it but std. mast is 10 5/8 in vs of existine mast that is 13.0 in. Height does remain the same. About 22%, according to Axexa? The present owner, who has sailed it for 4 years, said he has noticed no healing problems. Approx. 7.5#s, though it felt heavier. Much better Spreader setup though. I really like the boat, so I will learn to live with it. Intend to mainly sail as many of the California Lakes as I can.
