This boat I am looking at buying does not have a heating system and I would like to know the best methods / Costs anyone has out there for an easy install. I think I would like to have a Diesel forced air system. Where would/are the factory designed ducting locations.

Heating

Love your little town. Been there many times, especially the Dinghy Dock Pub and Wednesday races.

A few years ago I installed a Wallas 40D forced air diesel heating system myself on our 1991 P42. Check out the Boat Info tab above, then Hunter Owner Modifications, 42 and Wallas 40D Furnace for more details about the installation.

We've been very satisfied with the the system's performance. It is especially nice to be on the hook in some small cove in the middle of December enjoying the serenity of the event in warm comfort.

The small North American distributor, Scan Marine, is located in Seattle. I'm not that familiar with the 40.5 to provide specific installation advice, but I would be happy to answer any questions.

Re: Heating

Thanks for the info - I will check that out. I have heard that the Wallas is a bit of a pig on power. Approx what was the cost to Install?

Heater

About $2,500 in material cost. Unit, ducting, registers, etc.

Fuel consumption: 0.12 - 0.42 quarts/hour

Electrical consumption: 1.7 - 4.4 amps DC.

Heat produced: 4,000 - 14,000 BTU.

I usually run ours at mid setting so figure a number in between the above, far from a pig on power.
