I wanted to thank everyone for their terrific advice concerning covers and heating a Catalina 30. I've bought a Fairclough cover and I am very pleased. Can anyone please comment on Wallas vs Espar vs other transom exhausted heating systems. For example, Wallas has an installation kit for a water-air system. How easy is it? Zodi has a much less expensive propane fueled hot air systems used for tents etc that I could adapt. Does anyone have any experience with them? Thanks again!

Speaking from ignorance

I'm not familiar with those systems other than the Espar, which I recommend highly. I'd be very reluctant to modify a propane heater designed for use in tents. Tents ventilate a lot better than boats, and propane is extremely dangerous stuff. Even if you installed it effectively, it could hurt the resale of your boat. If heat is important to you (and I see how it could be in RI) I wouldn't cut any corners with it.
