Heater hose observation

a yr or so ago, i redesigned my fresh water and raw water circuits on my engine. I had a heat exchanger designed and mounted it off engine. Today when poking around, I noticed some of the heater hoses were sticky to the touch. Mainly, the fresh water ones. Hoses used are 5/8 Gates red hose which is a heavy duty hose. Anybody have any ideas about this sticky stuff? Coolant is close to 50/50 mix..

You didn't wipe them with acetone or such?

Strange, Mark.. I have those hoses on my air conditioner seawater circuit and have not noticed any of that.. they are 25 years old. may be an "improved" formulation.?

I bought the hose from a specific hose shop in town. Maybe tomorrow, I'll go talk to them

Maybe a tiny leak from a loose hose clamp allowing some coolant to coat the hose and dry sticky?
