Heat exchanger

I have taken apart the raw water system on my 1990 c30 M3-20 and cleaned it for the season but wonder about the heat exchanger. Archives have lots of comments about cleaning it but I can only see taking off the inspection plate at one end and the zinc out of the other to make sure that area is clean. Is there any way to get at the insides?DavidC30 Four Feathers

Last season I carefully ran a coat hanger thru each tube. Mine were very clean with no debris or buildup.

Took the end plate off of my C30's heat exchanger last weekend, due to a very small leak of the plate gasket. Found small bits of impeller vanes on the intake side of the internal tubes, so the previous owner must of destroyed an impeller in the past. I used tweezers to remove the rubber bits on the intake side, and then used a shop vac on both sides of the water route to suck out any remaining stuff. The vac also sucked up some loose zinc bits through the pencil zinc hole.
