Heat exchanger exchange

I found my Universal M-25 in my C-36 to be too hot running at anyhting more than about 2000 RPM, and after going over everything, decided to exchange the original 2" dia. heat exchanger for a new 3" unit. About $350 later from Hansen Marine (superb service), I swapped in the new one, changing all the hoses in the process. After filling w/ coolant, the engien would heat very qucikly to over 200 degrees. I kept shutting down and trying again to bleed the system, and only after finally running with the fresh water pump to thermostat housign hose disconnected, could I get all the air out. Things then settled down to the thermostat temperature regardless of engine speed or load. The question is - How does one easily bleed the air from a C-36 installed M25??? (Also, how does one easily and neatly drain one for work?) Thanks! jv

Exchange?

Am interested in getting a used 2" heat exchanger. Did you really exchange your old one or was that a figure of speech. Gene at (judy_pearce@hotmail.com)

Don't know about the M-25..

but my M-18 manual says to advance the throttle to 3000 rpm for a few seconds and the temp will come down (burp it). I was a little reluctant to advance throttle on an already overheated engine, but it worked like a champ. The temp came down within seconds. BTW, I just checked the Torresen Marine site, and the M-25 manual says the same thing.
