Heat exchange cleanout ?

Our 1989 Catalina 30 has a M-25XP engine that is running fine but there is green discoloration/corrosion around the heat exchange end caps. Should I open it and clean out the exchange? I read somewhere there may be debris and metal piece in the exchange. If so, do I take the entire exchange off the engine or just open one end (the easiest to access end) ? Thanks CM

I have the same engine in my Catalina 30. Takes just a few minutes to take off both end plates. I found a small dia. wire that was plastic coated and worked very well to rod out the tubes. Check your pencil zinc while your in there. Frank
