I need to replace the headstay on my 1985 H23, but don't have the original. It has a Kenyon mast, chainplates on the catwalks, and was delivered in July of 85. I wasn't entirely sure how to interpret the "Turnbuckle to Tee Ball" on MrUnix's rigging page.

I measured one of the lowers, and found that the dimension matched the "Turnbuckle to Marine Eye" length of 13' 3 1/2" if I measured the overall dimension with the turnbuckle fully extended to the cotter pin eye.

Would I interpret the headstay dimension the same way? Some of the rigging houses use the dimensions from the bearing surface of the T-ball and the center of the pin to the chainplate, with the turnbuckle 1/3 extended.

Unless I can find the original dimensions, I'll probably end up getting Norseman or StaLock fittings and making it while I put the mast up, but that can get exciting. If anyone has any dimensions and where they apply, that would be great

Thanks. I should have read the page in more detail, as all the info was there. What concerned me was that my lowers were 2.1" shorter than the specified length, and I'm pretty sure they are original. However, when the rig is tuned they are barely screwed in enough to use cotter pins. With the extra length, they would use 2.1" of their 3.6" range, which is about right.

The other standing rigging is in the same shape, and its difficult to adjust to correct the boat's significant weather helm
