Hi, Our 84 OD222 had parted with its furler before we bought her. My question is the attitude of the headsails. They want to bunch up on the pulpit. The lower front corner attaches to a 2" stainless clip, which is clipped to a fitting on the deck where the forestay attaches. Is there a lead line I should attach to allow the bottom of the sail to come up higher off the deck? Are the sails doing this because the furler is gone? Any advice is appreciated.

Compromise

Nope - almost all of us have the same issue you describe. If you have enough room on your headstay you can devise a line to raise the sails over the pulpit, but if you can do that your sails are probably too small. This happens with furlers, too. There's not a lot to be done for it. One thing to remember is to keep the pulpit clean so it doesn't mark the sail. Justin
