OK Folks. Somewhere I found the dimensions ( Luff, Leach & foot) for the headsails for a Capri 22 standard rig.

Of course I would not be posting this, if I remembered where they were.

Anyway, does anybody have the dimensions for the jib and 155 Genoa for our boat?

The MkI shows cabin top tracks, I wonder if those were an option to the standard racing package? For anyone that has the cabin top tracks, how much of a difference do they make, and how are the sheets routed to the winches in the cockpit?

Obviously the cabintop tracks only work for the under 100% jib, sheeted inside the shrouds. You have to have a pretty well shaped mainsail (laminate loose foot recommended) to get more point out of sheeting within the shrouds. If everything is tuned otherwise well, and winds are up (to warrant the use of the jib), then it'll gain you a couple degrees (2ish) of point upwind.

Its been my experience that when you get winds up like that, you usually get waves too, and you require spilling off winds some to drive the waves in such a small boat. But sure you can pinch/trim in the troughs, and ease/foot on the peaks.

The cabin top tracks were part of the "Racing Package" which also included cabin top winches, split & adjustable back-stay, traveler, plus an adjustable out-haul mechanism. Which is an 8/1 internal in the boom. Plus some other stuff I think.

According to the 1987 literature I have.

Spinnaker gear Including Pole Sheets, Foreguy and Halyards Lead Aft.
Winches on cabin top for halyards (?)
Hiking stick
Boom Vang
Backstay with Adjustment Purchase
Adjustable Traveler. ( The "bullet" besides this was smaller then the other bullets.)

Price 1987 $645

I do nto think the spinnaker gear included a pole.

The race package includes winches on the cabin top that you would use for the cabin top jib tracks. No routing to the cockpit unless you want the lines to hang in the air from the cabin top blocks to the cockpit winches...

You can route the lines from the cabin top track to the cars on the genoa track and back to the winch. The sheets clear the deadlights easily once under tension, and I didn't find them to be in the way of anything at all. I sailed all last year with that configuration after I ran across another Capri at a marina set up that way. The only thing I did different was upgrade the genoa car blocks on the cabin top to the newer style Catalina Direct sells with the standup spring. These new blocks can rotate and flex to whatever angle the sheet wants to set. The original blocks (on my 1987) will work, but not smoothly or without some chaffing. Before I copied that idea, I was stuck using the genoa tracks for my 100% jib so I could cross sheet.

Here's a link to the new car & blocks I bought to replace the cabin top blocks
http://www.catalinadirect.com/index.cfm ... lock-1.cfm

Here's a picture that shows how the jib sheet lays. This pic was taken before the new blocks were installed.

Just a word of caution on headsail dimensions...

If you have a furler, measure the hoist of the furler rather than assuming anything.
CDI furlers are cut to fit and can be several inches different between installations.

Oh, apparently I was shorted a couple of tracks and winches :). So some CP-22's have a total of 4 cabin top winches? I've not seen that. Mattw79's setup is what I would have imagined.

Sounds like your boat came without the racing package.
The racing package included only TWO cabin top winches and TWO winches for a genoa.
