If memory serves me correctly.
What.... that it is a 1100, 2100, probably not 3100?

Either one, looking at the drawings online, it looks like the only way the entire column could slip down is if the "Cross Pin" item #37 would be missing. I wonder how it penetrates the head shroud, through a turnbuckle?

It's the 2100. The pin goes through a special portion of the turn buckle. By the way, if you don't have the flushing whole update to the new drum from Schaefer. The bearings are so much smoother. And you. An flush it with water to keep it easy to turn.

Hey JK, Thanks for the info!
Don't have the updated drum with flushing hole, but so far rotates smoothly.
Just trying to understand if the top cap is pushed off because because the head sail luff masurment is too long, or has the entire system dropped down. I need to take the measurements for the new sail and I want to get them right.
I will be at the boat tomorrow to further investigate.

Witzend, on the 2100 drawing, look at item 17. That is the stop pin that was missing on my system.

Gary, please tell me about your headsaill, assym or gennaker? How is it attached at the tack and did you need to add a spinnaker crane at the top to clear the jib furler? I've been looking to add a light air sail and glad to see you have taken that step.

The big sail in the picture of my boat is called a reacher. There is a cable in it that allows it to get pretty stiff when hoisted. I attach it to the bow below the furler and use the spinnaker halyard. I also put it in a sock to make it easier to handle. I attach blocks to the rear cleats and run the sheets direct to the blocks and then around the wenches. It is really big and probably about 200% jib. It will point a little but is really fun on a broad reach or run. I normally only head sail with it because I don't want to block any wind when I use it.

It is a lot of fun in light . I bought it used and I think it was made for a 34' boat but it works nice on our boat. On our inland lake winds can get light so any kind of light air sails can be fun.

Actually if the entire column dropped due to the pin item 37 in the drawing I posted than there would be no difference in the potential luff maximum dimension, and thus would not be my problem. On the other hand if item 23 was missing that might cause it.
