I wound up buying a Pompanette Hood Seafurl 5. My reasons were 1) lifetime warranty, 2) I won't need to make any changes or buy anything extra since my old one was a Hood and 3) Defender's relatively inexpensive sale price on it was about to expire.
Thank you all for your comments and insight. Happy sailing. I hope to see some of you out on Barnegat Bay.
Post note to my sailing friends: Hood just now changed their warranty to only 5 years. I don't know of any furler that comes with a lifetime warranty anymore.

I think that Hood changed to a lifetime warranty or five years, whichever comes first...............................................

From the Pompanette / Hood website...

"All Hood products come with a full five-year warranty; The SEA Furl-5 furling systems are guaranteed for life."

I just purchased the Seafurl-5 - H325 for my Catalina 34.

Post notes:

My Hood “Sea Furl 5” instructions were really bad and almost useless. They provide photos but they seem out of order. But the good news is their Customer Service guy who’s the expert will gladly take your calls and walk you through the installation steps. It works great and I’m glad I bought it.

Our original 1991 Hood double line furler still does the job it was designed to do.
