We're considering moving to a Mac 26 S or D, or possibly a 25, from aGrampian 26 which provides 6' headroom throughout the cabin. We like a lot about the Mac, but we're intimidated by the apparently gnome-sized access to the head & V-berth. Comments anybody? Or measurements--just how high is the deckhead outside the head, and above the V-berth? Thanks for your help!

Head Room?

Straight out, there is no standing head room in the head or the rest of the boat for that matter unless you consider the area where the pop top is raised. And I might add that this contributes to many bumped noggins when transitioning from standing head room to the other areas and back. For a while we were on a mission to replace our 26S with a boat that had standing head room. After considering what we would have to give up to get that (boat/trailering weight, launching difficulties, speed, etc., we have decided to stay with what we have because we really like it. The accomodations in the aft berth (under the cockpit) are difficult to duplicate until you get into a significalyly larger boat, perhaps well beyond what is practically trailerable.
