I finished the pump rebuild last weekend, returned today to find no water flowing into the head. I thought everything was working when I completed the rebuild, but apparently not. This is on a Catalina 310. I used all of the parts in the rebuild kit. The head was taking in lake water before the rebuild, so I'm thinking I did something wrong. The thru hull is open. Any advice?

when i say no water flowing into the head, I mean when I'm attempting to pump it with lake water.

Have a look at the double flapper valve. It could be installed backwards, or either of the two flaps may not be seating securely. The two flaps work in conjunction with each other to direct the flow of water into the toilet bowl. If the flapper isn't in right, or if the flaps aren't seating correctly, you won't get any water into the bowl.

You said you replaced the other parts in the kit - the piston and "O" ring generate the suction, but the flapper valve is the lynchpin as far as any water coming into the toilet.

thanks; you're exactly right, I installed the flapper backwards. I had a 50/50 chance of getting it wrong, and succeeded!
