Have a 2001 C310.

Having a problem with head. I am getting a back flow into the bowel. I would say it goes to about 1/2 to 3/4 to the top and stops. Very slow rise. Most of the time find when when we come back after a week.

I replaced the head a few years back with the Jabsco "Twist'n Lock" head.
And even in the lock postion still have the back flow.

Holding tank is not over filled.

Might be your joker valve. Replacing it fixed the same problem in my head.

Sounds like Joker Valve

A friend with a Beneteau says they replace the joker valves on the Jabsco;s with a Raritan C253 Raritan Joker Valve. Apparently it is a better design and the same price.

Is the bowl filling up with waste or with sea water? I will assume it is waste.

If the bowl is slowly filling up ½ to ¾ full from the holding tank it can only be one of two things. The tank is full or the vent is at least partially plugged.

Pumping the bowl empty the waste goes into the holding tank, insure you have pumped sufficient times to clear the hose between the head and tank of waste.

At some point either the hose itself or where it enters the waste tank is higher than the head. For the waste to be pushed back into the head can only be caused by two things.

1. A clogged vent, when pumping the head there is not sufficient escape of the displaced air in the holding tank. The tank is under pressure and regardless of how new your joker valve is it cannot hold back the pressure caused by the clogged vent.

2. The tanks is full and again nowhere for the waste to go.

On the 310, the holding tank is higher than the head so it's possible to get back flow from a full line. A new joker valve should solve the problem.

Thanks all

Just ordered a new Joker valve.

I'll check the vent, but I think it is the waste water from the tube leading to the holding tank. When I flush with clean water the bowel refills with clear water. And I already made sure the holding tank was empty.

Thanks all.

Remember that joker valves only last a year or 2 before leaking. Depends on use and the water type, but it's normal. Get several. And remember to flush a bunch of clean water before you start!
