I pumped fresh water into the head from the pick up end to get out a bad smell, now there is no suction for water to be pumped in. Anyone have same type of problem, should I use one of the replacement part kits, I need to replace the joker valve also.

What is the make/model/age of your toilet?
I'm not quite sure what you did...can you explain in detail exactly how you "pumped fresh water into the toilet from the pickup end?" Till I know, I can't tell you whether the toilet needs any parts or not. If it's a Jabsco I wouldn't put ANY money into it...the kit costs as much as new toilet!.
If you'll search the Head Mistress forum for "intake odor" you'll find a lot of discussion the describes a simple inexpensive permanent cure.
