Has anyone removed the head holding tank on their O'Day 28. The opening in the v-birth versus the length of the tank looks like it could be difficult? The tank appears to be plastic or poly? I just don't know if it is disconnected and lifted, if it would come out through that opening. Thanks in advance

Mick,

I cannot tell you exactly what to expect nor how your specific boat is built.

I can only surmise from observation on my boats and reading forums such as this.

Generally the tanks are tabed in with FRP so that remain in place. Often it is on bottom of tank and not visible. In other cases it is visible and has to cut to remove tank.

Main Sail, one of the moderators of these forums might be more knowledgeable. Or, someone who has do so already on your specific model.

I would expect that your tank is glued in someway and maybe multiple ways.

If you have to cut it up to take it out, the reason you are doing so is to replace anyway.

I would be interested in you posting pictures of before, during and after because I expect to be doing similar project.

What I am thinking of doing is going bigger which would mean custom made tank.

So, keep us informed.

Ed K

I agree. After studying the pics it looks more intimidating than it will be. It may rub against the opening but should slide right out.

Good luck with your project ~Craig
