Are there any alterations that have to be made to the head stay when installing a CDI FF2 furling system on a 1994 Hunter 23.5?

I recently installed an f6 cdi furler on my boat

There are not aleterations needed to the headstay. What happens is ...cdi provides a plasic foil that the headstay slides thru. There are two tricky parts to the installation. 1. uncoiling the wound up foil works best with 3 people. I unrolled mine from the box and rolled it back on itself with masking tape with the help of two other people. It sits for about 2 days. 2. The next tricky part is the measurment of headstay. This is a critical measurement that is outlined in the directions. It is important to read the instructions carefully. NOt a bad job. I had the boat out of the water which makes it much easier. It took me a couple of hours. One problem that I ran into was the tang that connects the headstay to the deck became about 1/4" too short when the furler drum was added. It was a big issue for me because my mast has to be commercially stepped. When the came to step it ..I had to go to West and but a new tang. I love the furler!

Do not do anything to the forestay. It slips into the extrusion. You will have to measure the forestay per instructions and cut to length. When you put the mast up, make sure the top black plastic head cap will clear the mast. If it doesn't, then take a couple of inches off and repeat. The only other thing is when you uncoil the extrusion coming out of the box, make sure you have several folks to help you so when bending it back into a circle, it will not get loose and hit you.

Should be easy

John has it right. With any luck at all you should be able to do what is a very simple installation over your present forestay. When I was scoping out furlers for my 240, not having to do modifications to the headstay factored into my decision. I went with the FF2 with ball bearing upgrade. It took 2 modest-aptitude people about two hours to install with the boat in the water. Since you will have to remove the turnbuckle to get the extrusion over the stay, it would be a good idea to make reference marks to assure correct adjustment when you re-install. Happily, things went well for us with the unit right out of the box. - A great upgrade! Good luck.
