YOu now have specified more in detail what you are doing. However, the two mast that were replaced using quick release pins had tension on the forestay but the pin came out anyway probably due to pumping. I would still secure that pin with a clip.Originally, the diameter size stud was too big to go thru the roller furling extrusion. It ended up that we cut the stud off and used a sta loc stud. You just have to be careful when tensioning the forestay that you do not turn the lowere part of the sta loc or you will loosen that up and causing the wire to come out.It was only the bottom of the forestay that we had to deal with. In cutting the extrusion, add about two inches as the old instructions do not take into account the knob on the upper plastic drum will hit the mast and posssibly catching the jib halyard.crazy dave condonCrazy Dave Condon
