Some folks think they're ugly; the previous owner of our boat had it removed.
With crew aboard and less than 20kts of wind, it can get boring for the crew. At 20kts and above, Oneida Lake can chop up really fast, so I position crew to knock down some of the incoming water before it gets to the helmsman (me).
As a person who single-hands 99.99% of the time, I can't say enough good about the Hoyt Jib Boom, but you really need to experience it for yourself.
