We just tried to install a CDI roller furling but ran into a problem with the ball/socket type head stay. Is there an easy fix for this?

I was told that the fitting on the mast had to be changed.I was trying to avoid this. Can it stay and the luff extrusion be slid from the bottom?

Did mine some years ago from the bottom (h25) but you want a strong, sure handed helper while you're rigging the spool. That bugger is heavy when you have it all the way up a slack forestay, and mind the winds are down, or you'll have a hell of a time. Hope this helps, Jim
