I have just had my head sail serviced. There was chafe on the front area of the foot from rubbing on the railing of the pulpit. Can I make the connection between the tack and the roller furling longer to avoid this? If so, how do I do this? The sail can be fed further up the channel and there is some clearance at the top to raise it further.

Hi Selena, the tack cringle of our head sail ...
is attached to the furler drum with a nylon strap that is sewn into the sail cloth at the cringle. This strap has a loop that is secured to the drum with a shackle. In order to raise the headsail like you want to do I would have to make the strap longer. If your system is much like ours I suspect you would have to do the same. Terry

Hi Selena, I would think so...
If I were doing it I probably would have a sail maker sew one inch wide nylon strapping to length with a loop on each end. Then shackle one end of this new piece to the existing tack cringle strap and the other end to the drum. Should work, unless someone here has a better idea. Terry
