Head Sail

What size head sail do I need? 34 hunter 1984..Yesterday the old head sail gave way. It ripped from head to toe by the time we got it in. I started to look last night on the internet for one and I got confussed. Anyway, as you can tell I am new to sailing and need a little help. Where to purchase also?Thanks Joe

Sails are very competitive and you find them from many sources. If you click the archive link and search for 'new sails' you'll find all kinds of recommendations... our chandlery among them.You don't really need the size of the sail unless you're planning to buy something used. Any legitimate sail loft will know the IJPE dimensions (rig dimensions) of the 34. A local loft will come out and take some measurements, while mail order or web sellers will ask you to take a few measurements. But either way you won't need the actual sail dimensions to have one made. That's the sailmaker's job.Good luck!
