Head Sail on 356

I have been doing some club racing with my 356, equipped with both head sail and main sail roller furling. Even though I have the in mast mainsail roller furling I do quite well when the wind blows. The fractional rig really legs me point into the wind and the roller furling main does not detract from the performance. However, on those light wind days my opponents pull out those large 155 genny's and I just cannot keep up. Has anyone put a larger headsail on the 356 or the new 36, and if you have did you put an additional sail track on the boat?

larger headsail for 356

John, we had Doyle measure the largest jib we could fit on the existing track, and came up with a 122% tuned so that for most conditions we have the jib leads in the middle of the track-close hauled, the jib is about 2" from the stay and the clew maybe 6" from the lead. if you want to go larger, you will need to add a deck track like the newer 36s, but you'll sacrifice some pointing ability. our boat is perfectly balanced with our slightly larger laminate main-battenless but an incredible shape (also from Doyle)
