My current 150 is attached to the roller furling with the Aeroluff system. Will need to replace the sail soon. Friends have said the Aeroluff isn't used much anymore. A ribbed tape is now slid up the groove. True/False? If true any there any mods I need to make to the furling gear to make it work?

Aero Luff

Ken, The Aeroluff system basically does the same thing as the Seafoam Luff Pad but achieves it in a different way. Since the luff tape is attached only in the middle third(inside the zipper sleeve) the sail rolls in the middle than before it furls at the head and tack. This keeps the genoa flat when it is partially furled or reefed. The luff pad increases the diameter of the roll at the middle luff which in turn furls more cloth from the deepest part of the sail than at the ends. Both systems use the same luff tape. Aeroluff is still available but not used that much anymore as it is more expensive than the luff pad. No mods are necessary for either system. Thanks, Bill Colombo Doyle Sailmakers
