Head replacement

I am considering replacing the marine toilet on my '85 H31. The original is a Sea/Land Model 752 manual pump model. Sea/Land no longer has spare parts for these and couldn't recommend a suitable replacement. Does anyone know of a replacement that will use the same mounting holes? Or am I being too optimistic? West Marine catalog has at least one model that looks almost identical in the picture, but you never know.

You aren't likely to find one that will

match the holes. But that's not a big deal. Just fill the holes, then put down a piece of nicely finished teak or mahogany to make a "platform" that covers the old holes and mount any new toilet on it. Screw it down, and seal the edges with silicone. As for a replacement toilet, I recommend either the Raritan Cricket or the Raritan PH II.

Two holes are better than none

I just replaced my Sea Land with a Jabsco Model 29090-2000. The right two holes matched. I haven't had a need to use ut as yet and can't recommend either way; however the water does not swirl like the sea Land. It runs down the sides!! Got it from Boat US

Ditto on Jim's comments.

Tom: I am now on our 3rd head in 15 years. The orginal one had a cracked plastic base that leaked when it was only a couple of years old. We replaced it with a Groco (drilled a new hole or two). This past year we installed a Jabsco too and drill another hole. I just fill the old holes with caulk and away we go. Have only used the Jabsco for about a season and it works well. I think that if the Cricket would fit (not sure of the dimensions) I would consider one of them if I was not on a toilet budget!

Did it also!

We just replaced the old Sealand 752 with a new Jabsco (we were on a budget too). Had trouble with the Sealand for too long - hard to flush, lost its prime, etc, etc. I mounted the new Jabsco so you don't bang your knuckles on the shower seat, like we did with the Sealand. Filled the old holes with marine caulk and drilled new holes for the Jabsco. Works like a charm!

We just replaced our old head on a 1986 H31 with a Raritan Cricket. It wasn't rocket science, but the Cricket base is too deep for the ledge it has to sit on. I made a longer base board of 1/2 in. thick Delrin. The base board was secured to the old ledge with 3 toggle bolts, 2 in teh rear of the baseboard, one about 2/3 of the way towards the ledge. The new head was attached to the base board. We found that the extendable pump handle would not clear the nice teak folding shelf/seat, so that was removed. Since we do not use the shower on the boat because of drainage/smell problems this is not something wwe need. The new head sits pretty high. In fact, it feels like one of those special toilets made for handicapped folk. Works fine, we are pleased with the result.
