Head - Raritan PHII outlet connector bowed

It might worth considering that Raritan may have (inadvertently) caused this problem by changing the spec on their joker valve by using a harder material for the flange "gasket" part that gets squeezed down. Our older Raritan PH2 models did not have this problem, and I sort of recall that the whole flange tightened down flat. Possibly, Perhaps,
I used to like Raritan joker valves in other heads.

BTW, Jabsco joker valves fit Raritan, I believe. Maybe try that. They are softer, but they also do not last as long. Neoprene vs. nitrile, at least in the past.

@FastOlson , after a little closer look at your closeup in post 14, could this be what's causing your leakage problem ? ? ? ?

Below is an exploded view of this area. Notice the differerent arrangement of parts between the straight (blue text) and 90 fitting (red text) on the outlet flange of the pump. Your extra thick piece is not shown in this drawing This is for my PH Superflush.

The next exploded view below is your Raritan PHll Small Bowl Toilet in a view of the same area. Identical except for new part numbers. Again your extra part is not shown.

Your extra "mystery part" is most likely the cause of your leakage.

That "extra part" is left over from a prior PH2 installation. That extra thickness just enables that side of joint to remain Un-warped.
The remaining difficulty is the molded on flange on the pump side and that's the one that warps and then can sometimes leak.
Worth noting that there is indeed a point where the two flanges are torqued enough to seal (flat), but not enough to leak. The problem I have noted is that with any increase in pumping pressure against the discharge it's possible to force some water out around the joker molded-in rubber flange.

What with the length of handle it's possible to really put some pressure on the whole "downstream" system. While I can easily sense when pumping the handle is getting too difficult, guests often have no idea how much handle pressure is too much. :yikes:

...... and so it goes..... :)

OK. I'm back to hoping that the joint under discussion NEVER starts to leak as I'm not looking forward to dealing with joker valves which act as gaskets and can't bear the load .............. evenly.

Given your position, I'm afraid that I'd be diving into the head checking for leaks everytime someone came out after sitting on it. I couldn't live with a flanged joint that is just waiting for an opportunity to leak because that joint is not as tight as it should be OR you had to loosen the pump base to lubricate the inside of the pump cylinder and %#^$&*(#@"?>^v:huh:.
The flange starts to leak.

Best of luck.

The most likely reason a joker valve distorts is over-tightening the fitting. That causes the joker valve to pucker around the bolt holes resulting in a leak, which most owners will try to stop by tightening it more, making the leak worse. After replacing the joker, start by tightening it only a quarter turn at a time until it's just tight enough to stop the leak and stop.
Leaving vinegar in the bowl can also cause the joker valve to leak 'cuz vinegar will cause soft rubber to distort .

While very expensive (especially at some unnamed marine chain stores) fits the description of Sani-flex, being stiff does not. Are you certain it was saniflex?
Well, the hose was stiff enough to cause me to want to torque down on the plastic fitting when I first installed it and both the toilet and the hose were new, to get things to line up correctly. In a given installation, you work with what you have. I would have greatly preferred a metal 90 degree fitting, or at least a stiffer plastic fitting. At the very least, both mating surfaces should have been thicker. "Tighten it until it doesn't leak, but not too tight" isn't what you want in a fitting that carries human waste.

Are the Raritan joker valves nitrile? Are the Jabsco joker valves still neoprene? Just curious if materials had changed.

Also, if there is a torque specification it might help users to share that. Yup, it's easy to over tighten fasteners on plastic parts, causing distortion.
