Any brand of synthetic teflon grease

SuperLube is the best quality. Liquid products are ok, Rob...IF you don't mind living with a never-ending job of pouring it in and waiting for 12 hours to use the toilet again every couple of weeks...'cuz anything that's thin enough to be poured down the head just washes out again in a few flushes. Otoh, it's only a 10 minute job once a year to take the top off the pump to put a healthy squirt of thick teflon grease into that lasts at least all season...and a $4 tube of it will last several years. Lubing the toilet is a PREVENTIVE maintenance job...waiting till the pump starts squeaking and gets hard to pump is tantamount to waiting till an engine starts to smoke before putting any oil in it. It's friction that's causing the pump to squeak and get stiff...and friction wears out seals, o-rings etc a lot faster than well-lubed ones.

Peggy, You once instructed us on the jabsco head to put ? kind of grease into the pump assembly. I thought you might have mention teflon grease? Thanks in advance. John

head lube

I bought a product from westmarine called "head lube". It's pretty easy to use, just pour a bit into a dry bowl and pump a few times, then let it sit for 12 hours. Pumping was noisy and tough on the arm before using it, now you can pump with your pinky finger!

John: Be very careful when removing the pump assy. from the toilet. These screws are bedded in plastic. If you strip them head will be history, or you can spend $100 on replacing the pump assy. Once this happens, you can just go out a purchase a good unit like a PHII. The teflon grease (Superlube) is available at OUR local Lowes. It is good stuff to keep on board for other lube jobs. It is very inexpensive and goes a long ways.

Peggy Tell him not to remove the small screws to do this just the big nut in the middle lift off whole top and squirt in superlube take 2-3 minutes tops works for months t
