I need help. I hope someone with insomnia can respond to this tonight so I can fix my head tomorrow. I have a jabsco manual marine toilet, when I put the lever on wet, it won't pull any water into the bowel. I have the through hull open to bring in lake water but no water can be pumped in. The bowel will pump dry easily. I can pour water into the bowl and then pump it dry. I went to west marine today and they said it probably was the joker valve. Does it sound like that is the problem? I hope so because that would be relatively easy to replace. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Since it is late now and I am going to my boat early tomorrow, any responses would be great. Thanks Mike

Just answered last week

Mike, ...same question. It sounds like your wet dry bowl switch is broken or just needs to be jiggled until you can replace it. Check the Head Mistress forum, the post may still be there. See the link, that's the one I was thinking of. Get there by going to Message Board, Expert Forums on the top left pane. The joker valve will simply let water back INTO the bowl from the holding tank if it is too old. If you can't fix it and you still want to go sailing, there's always the bucket. :)

Until you fix it

you can use the fresh water from the head sink (if you have a flexible shower head) or from the shower to fill the bowl for a fresh flush! Jack Manning s/v Victim of Fate Atlantic City, NJ
