We have a Hunter 42 Passage 1994. We love everything about it but have a persistant head problem which seems to be a mystery to repairmen. We have two electric heads. The problem is that they take very little sewage and then back up. Both macerators have been replaced. Could it be that the holding tank vent is clogged and causing back pressure? Through this message we hope that someone can help us.Who can solve our mystery? Thanks and happy sailing! Nancy and Ronald Harper aboard Hunter Passage 42 "AT LAST"

Tank vent could be the problem

That's something you have already checked yourself...certainly something that any repairman who's even semi-qualified to trouble-shoot and repair toilets should have known to do. And should have known that replacing the macerators wouldn't solve the problem...although a rebuild kit might. I gather that neither you nor the repairmen have thought to contact the toilet mfr for advice. Low voltage to the toilets can also cause sluggish discharge. There are also issues specific to certain toilet makes/models...so what is the make/model/age of the toilets on your boat?
