Head on 22

In reading some posts, and more recently seeing two photographs on this forum I have learned that on some Hunter 22's there has been what appears to be a marine head. My 22 is an 1982, and has never been equipped with such. Could any of you enlighten me? Thanx in advance garyg

I assume that you're refering to the area just inside and starboard in the vee-berth. Although some have added an actual marine head, what you've most likely seen is a porta-potty. The problem with adding a true working marine head is that there's just not enough room to add a holding tank and all the proper associated plumbing needed for it to be legal. Those that I have seen would get the owner ticketed by the coast gaurd or marine patrol if they were ever boarded because all they could squeeze in was the head itself with only a F/W supply and a direct overboard discharge.

Head Again

Mark - My boat has a porta potti. What I am seeing in the photos recently posted were actual marine heads. Albeit probably without holding tanks. I am curious if these were factory installations or someone put them in themselves. thanx garyg

Hunter came factory with porta potys

I'm pretty sure that all of the h22's came stock with a porta potty and all those pics that you have seen that have heads were installed by the owner.
