Porous Hoses

Thanks for the input Peggy. Your quote below is what I was refering to. Specifically the intake hoses. "stagnant seawater odor is only present in the rim of the bowl or when the head is flushed after it's been sitting for a while. Head intake hoses rarely if ever permeate." That is the problem I had, and I explained how I fixed it. Sorry for the confusion.

My sentence you quoted wasn't as clear as it could

have been. What I was trying to say is, intake seawater odor emanates from the water itself that become trapped in the intake hose and in the channel in the rim of the bowl...or more accurately, from the dead and decaying micro (and sometimes not so micro) organisms in the sea water. That odor is always in the head, emanating from the bowl--from what's trapped in the rim and the stagnant water forced out by the first few flushes. For some reason it doesn't permeate hoses, though...it can always be flushed away. And, yes...you found a cure for it that works for you. However, curing that problem won't prevent head and tank discharge hoses from permeating. They're two totally separate issues...hoses in systems that use fresh water--onboard or raw--to flush can permeate just as easily those that flush with salt water.
