Circling back on this with a final update. I purchased the rebuild kit from Raritan and replaced all the seals/gaskets. It turns out the flapper valve was installed sideways, which must have been causing the issue, as it hasn’t happened since the rebuild (with the new flapper valve oriented correctly).
