head intake line and new boat

Peggy,I have a new beneteau 423 on order. Reading all the posts about head intake odor ...I am wondering if I should ever use the through hull intake.... keep the new boat clean right from the start! on the otherhand ,I sail in lake Michigan and dock in muskegon river so perhaps this is mostly a salt water problem, what would you do? The new boat has plenty of freshwater storageSincerely,John O'Donaldps ..I like the beneteau's short hose to holding tank- my hunters hoses were very long

Since you're in fresh water,

you shouldn't have any of the intake odor issues that are common in salt water unless the waters are VERY dirty. Even if your marina is, the water a mile from shore isn't...so all you have to do is make a habit of flushing the toilet before you come in.
