Hi Recently, I discovered moisture and mildew in the v-berth between one of the cusions and the area above the head tank. I also discovered moisture in the salon area between one of the cusions and the area above the fresh water tank. Has anyone experience leakage from either of these tank? Does the caulking erod to a point where these begin to leak? Thanks Dave

Above the tanks?

It might be that you are confusing the moisture from high humidity with leaking tanks. Do not underestimate how much water is in the air and condensates under the cushions. I have three buckets with calcium chloride on my H37C. In one month they each collect more than a gallon of water. Unless your tanks are very full there should not be leaks at the top. Even if they did leak I cannot see how that could get under the cushions.

Water runs down hill

I have asked the boat yard to loosen my life lines when slinging my boat to hoist it. Needless to say, they didn't care. When they sling it without loosening the lines, the angle of the slings due to the smallish frame that holds them presses against the lines which deflects my stanchions and breaks the sealant at the bottom of the bow pulpit where the wiring goes through the deck. I have had leaks at that point and it is right above the V berth. I have had mildew on the cushion and corrosion of the zipper on the cushion cover. Check your sealant at any point where the stanchions or pulpits have bolts that go through the deck. Rebed them if they are not in tact.

Dave, you've got a leak.

Dave, Check the archives. I had the same problem, many others as well. In the 80's and 90's, Hunter molded the water tanks into the interior hull pan, then capped it with a PLYWOOD cover, sheathed top and bottom with a Formica laminate. The water tank cover is rotten; it must be replaced. Hunter dropped the ball on this one, and you have to pay the price. Robert
